Benefit of Becoming Google Authority Site?

One of our websites just became authority today - with eight related key terms. What benefits are associated with this? I already received two offers to purchase the site today. I guess that could be one benefit, but seriously, what are the actual benefits of becoming a google authority site?

 

Has Google ever offered a formal definition of "authoritative site"?

 

I have never seen Google use the term anywhere - it's a complete myth. A lot of people are getting worked up about it because google are using sitelinks a lot more, and the idea that that's what it means gets passed around. Google have never said, or even implied, any such thing.

 

if your site news always appear in google news... then probably i can accept what u mean by google authority site.

 

Can you please define what do you mean by authority site? Do you refer it as an authoritative one because google has started showing sitelinks for that site. My experience with google is the sitelinks appear for some period and disappears after some time.

 

I assume that you're referring to Google Sitelinks.

If so, then surely the benefit is obvious, more prominence for your site in the listing, and visitors can more easily find your page specific to their search.

my job's site is over 10 years old, has high SERPs and is PR7 and still doesn't have sitelinks.

 

i think becoing an auhtority is will bring you more traffic than before

 

one of my sites has just gain the site links. how do you control/influence which links get listed?

 

You cannot, Google does it automagically

 

Actually, he can control what sitelinks NOT to show, from google webmaster tools. We still cant control what sitelinks to SHOW.

 

I don't know what's that authority site ... But how did you know your site is one??!!

 

through webmasters tools you can know whether your site has sitelinks or nt

 

I always was under the impression that if you created a site map Google would display the links that way.
Guess I was wrong.

Yes, my authority site is pagerank 3 for over a year now.

Being an authority site has nothing to do with pagerank or backlinks. Its about how many real users search your site in google!

So if you have hundreds of net users from all around the world, searching google for your website, then your site will become an authority website.

Of course, having quality backlinks, good content and a properly optimized site, will help alot!

 

Well I wouldn't call these sites authority sites just because their sitelinks are displayed in SERP

 

The site link actually indicates that you have more of an "Absolute Authority" for that key word. (not to be confused with the site Absolute Authority)

 

my 1 year old sites are having site link;
but i can't see any good benefit from this
