I am the co-owner of ponylabs.com http://www.ponylabs.com The site is for creating, sharing and rating animal photos and graphics. We have a "Rodeo" section where members can compete their images against other members. The site has a kid-friendly chat room monitored by adult moderators. The site has grown to just under 20,000 members. We were seeing an average of 100 new members join the site each day. Most recently the new member growth has dropped to 20-30 per day. Suggestions on marketing the site to increase new member growth would be greatly appreciated!
1) Post new photos articles in the approppriate categories on Digg.com 2) Viral-market on Myspace & Facebook, using comments and private messages to as many users as you can 3) Post on forums and blogs with your site's URL in your signature. 4) Spread word of mouth advertising to as many people and animal/pet communities as you can.
You could always set up some sort of refferal program where your current members would get some sort of benefit for reffering new members
I have a referral program - members earn virtual "carrots" when they refer new members. Also, you earn 1 "carrot" each unique day you login to your account. The "carrots" can then be used to remove the ponylabs logo from a free stock graphic available on the site.
Thanks Teo123 - check out the site again in 2 weeks - my programmer is completing the next phase of additionas to the site.
