what's the law for this kind of thing? can a website be trademarked to be only yours?

I do believe this domain has a lot of value for now.

truth to be told, it would be a lot cheaper to pay $1500 than to do it in a legal basis (I am assuming that the law will side on bdmunee on this one).

Legally I think that the previous owner really don't stand a chance. well, I think..

the original owner has no legal leg to stand on... at all...

I have been through this several times on both ends.

The domain IMO is worth 5k MINIMUM. Its dmoz listed and has tons of nice backlinks. I contacted the thread starter and expressed interest but he is going to give it back to the original owner for a cheap price.

The campaign it would take to build the static backlinks this site has would take forever which is why I understand the original owner is hating it. Good thing the guy who has it now is so ... ethical... (ick)

Brady, stop the guilt tripping and speak to him man to man. Set up a payment plan or something.

Come on bdmunee, this is all the guy has. Let him have the domain back. $750 is a lot of money, it's obvious he feels really bad about this. I doubt someone is going to pay $5,000 for it, and even if someone is willing to pay you $1,000, it's only $250 more. This guy has spent YEARS developing his business, and he could lose it over a stupid thing like this. Just end it here, please, and make this right.

How does Dmoz know that this is going on? And why is it so prestigious to be listed there? Can't anyone apply for it?

DMOZ watches expiring domains - and there are also quite a few editors who are on DP.
