I'm pretty proud of this. I started an email marketing forum a week ago. As of today I rank #1 in MSN for "email marketing forum" out of 2.8 million results

not bad! If only I could duplicate this for yahoo and google

now all I need is a bigger userbase!!!!

    frankcow,

Good for you...Even though it is pretty easy to get into MSN, they are also a good leading indicator of Yahoo and Google. If you are doing well in MSN, in about a year you will start to see major movement in Yahoo and some movement in Google. Use MSN to see how well your content and optimization does, and just let the content sit. Eventually Yahoo and Google will start showing healthy results. Content is king. I love MSN because they always index quickly and I am in the top ten in less than a month. Yahoo and Google are much more feisty and require a lot of patience. Are you using Google sitemaps and analytics? I recommend using them to know what Google thinks about your site, and how visitors react to your site.

Keep plugging away and Yahoo and Google will eventually reward you...it is just a game of good content and patience.

    Tom Z.

i never heard anyone stating proud of achieving top listing in MSN....Dude its quiet easy and beleive me many sites without even any seo achieve top rankings on msn just on the base of keyword friendly domain name....however you listing will go out in few days if u donnt maintain links.

I've ranked front page for many MSN keywords and keyphrases... keyphrases that I think would be used to find my website.. however I've yet to see traffic from them. I don't understand the purpose of MSN honestly. :p

When the new internet explorer is released, MSN search may become a much better source for traffic. So, keep your hopes up - and your rankings. :)

For now ranking in MSN doesn't do much for a site but I imagine in not too much time when IE7 starts gaining market share, it will be nice to have a site that ranks well for searches using Microsoft search technology. Especially from a PPC perspective since it is primary the default users (people who will go with the default Windows Live search) who click on ads.

I've gotten some uniques from some MSN~microsoft beta search. I'm also getting some from Windows Live Beta Search. Site is ranked #1 in both for one of my keywords!! Please oh please let these SEs dominate the Search Engine world!! I was listed #1 in google for the same keyword at the beginning of last month, but now I dropped down to like the 7th page. WTF!! I'm #11 for that keyword in yahoo.

traffic or no traffic, ranking #1 for a non-generalized search term is not too bad I think

I had some pages which used to be ranked 1st-10st on Google for terms like "athmosphere terms" but I haven't receive any traffic. In fact Yahoo's overture keyword suggestion can show you how much traffic you might expect. And it shows almost zero for "email marketing forum".

Anyway, good luck. I might be mistaken. :).
