Like sxe pnor casino love, etc., Other than that. You will be wasting your money and paying yearly fees. If you plan to invest. Plan for a long term 5-6 years of waiting for extension to pick up, plan for a 2-3 years economy recovery in the western world, and plan for the rainy days ahead in the job markets. If you plan 1-2 years of investment, you might not see a dime and have to drop the extension and wasted money.
Ask yourself how many times you have Googled something and seen a ".me" in the results? I have never seen it. I think that is your answer.
Friend, .me is a new registry and hence you won't find too much results on it but personally speaking, I think its a good registry. There's no harm in registering a .me domain. I can't suggest you to buy a .me domain name... why don't you try to buy a .com? even if you can't fine a short domain, but you have the guarantee of quality.

.ME is not the best of TLDs..buy a .ME domain only if you're not able to get the name of your choice anywhere else..
