What is it called when the stock photos are cut out and have a transparent background? I know there is a name for them, but I am having a hard time finding the 'name'... its been a while since I needed new stock photos.
I personally never knew there was an actual name for them I always referred to them as cleaned, crisp, or transparent images. Though I find that a lot of the images aren't cleaned the way I like now, so I tend to just clean them myself.
A lot of the stock site use the keywords "cutout" or "cut-out" - most don't offer real transparent (png/gif/psd) backgrounds, but you can usually remove the bg pretty easily.
For things like trees and bushes and sometimes animals. Most of the time I find it fairly easy. At most it takes me 30-40 minutes for one image. I generally enlarge it by 400-500% and take off the excess
You can really only download an apha channel image as a png. The only other images I find are ones they call "isolated" meaning the cut out would be white. Still you need to remove it to have a transparent bg
i guess alpha channel images are what I wanted, but Im having a hard time finding a good site with a lot of quality ones
