Why focus on Reciprocal links when you can get One way links?
One way links are far more better (as much as 1000%, that's my estimate) than reciprocal links. Just do a research on:
    -Article Directories
    -Blog Guest Posting
    -Dofollow Commenting
    -Web Directory Submission
    -Social Bookmarking

Just google them and you will come up with a lot of One way link building strategies. Its really not that hard to get those links.

Yes, a lot of web directories say "We'll appreciate if you put our links on your site". But its not necessary. regularly submit your website to a fixed number of web directories. And don't worry, its not like they won't approve your submission if you don't link to them. Don't Worry Be Happy!! :)

do not bother with reciprocal links unless you have software that can manage it, your time is better spent on other link building efforts

Easiest way is to do a search on your keywords and then contact the owners of all the sites that appear there. That way you know you are getting related links.

First have something worth link to. If you don't have this, the best you're going to get is some spammy site to link back to you.

Second, have something to offer the person in return. Bear in mind that if they have a good site they get hundreds of link requests a week (or day). They delete every one of them. you need to make it worth thier time to hear what you have to say.

    Here are some possibilities:
1)Money - always a good way to get someones attention.
2)A well written unique article that fits their site well.
3)A widget that would work well with their site. Is it a finance site? offer them a payment calculator they can put on their site. Look at the site and see if there can be something cool created that they might put on their site in trade for a link. Be creative

I 100% agree with the post by rena. Going to search engines and looking for potential link exchange partners and then sending them emails is extremely time consuming and you won't get results with it either. The best place to find relevant link exchange partners are webmaster forums where others webmasters are hanging out looking for new link traders. I've personally seen a much higher response rate from my personal messages sent to webmasters from forums like these instead of searching them on Google or using a software to find them.

Lizisha – I'd think you'd be better off taking the advice of varun7991. Recip links aren't worth much unless the other site has a higher PR. If they do, they what's in it for them to get a link back from you?
