I think that any domain ending can be good, if your promoting online then it's all about content and backlinks. I presume that google has no real preference as to the ending of the domain. If the content of the site is good and updated on a regular basis, coupled with some backlinks then does it matter if its a .name .gb.net etc?
Hey just came across a different usage of .name Domains. It was used like yourname.yourLastName.name. e.g. If your name is James Bond, so your Domain will be like James.bond.name. So James is just a sub-domain! Something new but personally, did not find it very interesting..
.name would be nice for personal blog and stuff like that but i don't see how it could be useful for commercial purposes.a domain ending with .name does not sound all that professional.
At present there isn't much value in .name TLD so don't buy it from investment point of view, however its good if you are thinking of developing content on it
few weeks ago I emailed godaddy support for getting information about .name registrations because I couldn't offer .name's and here was the answer which is also related to why godaddy doesn't offer .name
I agree. I think people first type in blahblah.com rather thatn blahblah.name or .ws or any other new TLD
worthless.name? But then as more and domains get used up, more people may buy a .name. if there are enough backlinks, the search engines will find it I always thought these were initially set up for personal sites. i.e. a blog on johnsmith.name
Its not much useful though but some what ok for personal use. Overall, .com will continue to dominate the market and there will be no competitor to .com domain name.
nah..its hardly worth anything..and as someone pointed out earlier..there havent been any good .name domains..
