Hi, What do you guys think of my business card. I was aiming for; for a simple design that isn't boring. Fun but professional. Do the colours work? Any other feedback appreciated. Thanks.
That's nice ^-^ I like the colour scheme of it, it just seems to lack something, but i can't place it right now
Thanks Grit, let me know when you can place it. Perhaps I should have requested constructive criticism.
Is that a PSD file? If so, mind sending it to me and I'll show you what I see it as? If it's a vector file then don't worry, I only have PS . PM me if you're interested in my ideas. -Aidan.
I think its a nice enough design, simple yet attractive. Though, as it is for a graphic design company, business cards are meant to show off your design ability, I dont think that this does that.
consider using a different font other then Ariel? I like your name on the curve, but having "graphic and webdesign" as well is a little too much. Try right align "graphic and webdesign underneath the pheel logo. Nice and clear color combo, but you might find the white text on light sky blue will be hard to read when printed out. Good luck
It's a vector image I'm afraid. Feel free to PM me with your ideas though I was going for a simple design in the business card and to show off in a flyer. But perhaps your right. Some great tips amokk20us, thanks! I agree having "graphic and web design" is too much, and that the font is all a bit boring. I printed a few variations with an inkjet and the white text seems fine and clear though. Overall I think it's back to the drawing board for me. The only thing that i'm sticking with is the colours!
alrighty 1) This doesn't look like a North American standard size - I'm not sure where you are but do make sure that it's the corrrect format and done at 300dpi or as a vector (which it looks to be anyway). A list of all common card sizes is here, although I'd trust your printer's word over the 'standards' ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_card#Dimensions ) 2) Pheel (homonym for 'feel'?) is the company Name. Graphic & Web Design is what you do. Michael Ruta is who you are. Hierarchy works well, but the orangey yellow is harder to read than the blue simply because of contrast. The 'Pheel' is quite readable and works well, but the name is too thin. I can understand the desire to set 'Graphic & Web Design' as higher in the hierarchy, but I believe if the font weight of the name and job title were equal to that of the graphi&web that it would still be higher on the hierarchy simply by being in the darker blue colour. I believe that the orange text has to be beefier, and if you have to change the blue you have to change the blue, but right now the orange is in danger of being skipped. 3) Now again, I'm not in the UK here, but when I see your contact info, the first thing I see is 'mew'...like a cat. I assume that this stands for mobile phone, email and website - so why is telephone wandering way off to the side? This might sound picky, but as far as expected reading goes, I would expect to read them in this order: T, M, E, W. In fact, website is so obvious that I don't know it merits a 'w:'. You have 't:' wandering off to the side, I can't help but wonder if your design might flow better with 't:' 'm:' 'e:' in a stack, and website there telephone currently is, and without 'w:' as the odd one out. Having said that I don't want to sound overly harsh, it's a good layout that has a lot of things going for it. The words that it communicates to me sitting here in Canada are 'fresh, clean and young' (in a youthful and energetic way, not as in lack of experience). Whether or not that is your intended message or not it sure hits me well. I think you ought to play around with it, try my changes and see if you think they improve them. I'm just a young graphic designer over here too - all I can offer is suggestions not solutions. Hope this helps, I see a lot of potential in this and for me it's 95% of the way there already!
Thanks innovati, some good constructive criticism. Just what I like 1) It isn't a North American standard size... but that's because I'm in the UK. It's a 85mm x 55mm with 3mm bleed on each side (91mm x 61mm total). Standard UK size. Well spotted though. Also it's been scaled down for web of course. 2) I didn't really notice about the orange not being bold enough, your right. I don't want to make it too bold in fear that it just won't flow with the other font weights, any suggestions? Am I worrying about nothing? 3) That's a really good point. The reason I have one stack on the left and the tel. number on the right is for two reasons a) they don't all fit on the left and b) the right side looked bare. But your right in the order it should be displayed and removing the "w:". I'm working on a different design, using the same colours and I've made the same "mistake" on that too, so thanks for this! In all, much appreciated innovati +rep
the design are simple, and clear. but if talking to give some "constructive criticism" I just able to give you a word "Conservative Design" May be just post up mine, the name card designer design for me ops...any one can guide me how to resize the size here?
Resize it before uploading. The image is quite bad quality, I expect it would be even worse when printed?
the simpler, the better; what I would do if it was mine, I would put my name under the presentation of my company; but it looks good
lolz, I does not have a good quality scanner, this is the quality scan by scanner. by the way, the name card overall, is nice, but I just dissatisfy with the shadow below the server. Because the stupid designer just drag the shadow big when i request, without enhance the resolution
