    Hello

To up your QS, you need a higher CTR (click thru rate) In order to maintain a high CTR, you need to have ads that are relevant to the keywords. Remember to think in the consumers point of view...keep testing your ads as well.

This is nothing to do with CTR.

A drop like that is more often than not, related to your landing page. Google may have manually checked it and severely slapped you for it.

It does indeed - as Google explained to me only last week. You're right in that it can be manually checked and slapped, but it also occurs due to a low CTR.

We were specifically advised to seperate our 'good' keywords (those with a high CTR) from average, and bad keywords in order to keep the quality score up.

Also, content network quality score is seperate from search quality score.

CPC not only depends on the amount of competition for that keyword, it heavily depends on the quality score of the landing page. Your quality score must not be good, in this case you are charged high only even if there is no competition. Google gives equal priority to the relevance/quality of the ads..
