This seems like a site that could benefit by heavily targeting social media. If you don't already have a Facebook/Myspace page, I'd get one up, stat. Load it up with examples of the type of music you play, post updates to let people know what's new, etc.

Myspace also now allows front page ads. I have no idea what they cost, but if you have the budget for it, it would be well worth the expense.

I'd also create a Twitter acct with the name "TrueUKSound" and write tweets like "Now playing on True UK Sound: [Name of Artist/Track] - [link]. Don't go crazy with that, updating every three minutes... but a few updates an hour will get you visitors.

For cheap traffic, you could use StumbleUpon Ads. You could target the music category, and I'm thinking you can also target by geographic area. At last count, StumbleUpon Ads charged 5 cents a click, so it might be worth it to drop $50 and see how it works out (you'll definitely get the traffic, but you'll need to analyze how many people stick around.

Those are just a few thoughts off the top of my head that are free or relatively low cost (except maybe the Myspace front page ad thing).

Post articles on Digg.com, viral-market it on Myspace & Facebook and post in blogs and forums with the site's URL in your signature.

What I would do is tap up local bands/dj's and get their music on there. This bit is simple. Id then let them promote the hell out of our site, they will be dying to do it as it is exposure for them. Head down your local "open mic" nights and u'll get plenty of clients

Create a youtube account, then start interviewing local bands and clubs in your area. Take the videos of those interviews and post them on youtube - be sure to get a consent form filled out and have the band sign it.

Maybe start a type of head bangers ball for your site. Where you have guest bands on your show, show some video clips and do a general interview in a stage setting.

New band are always looking for ways to get seen and your looking for content. Just match the two up.

There are a range of ways to approach that. Since your streaming stuff I would stick with google.co.uk for a while and find sites like this to cooperate with http://www.radiostations.co.uk/ http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/

I will give it some further thought. Marketing and business models is typically what I do but I am also a musician and former music buyer. I have a pretty good handle on that demographic. However, I just rolled out of bed so I am not real alert yet ;)

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

I agree, the solution is social media. Twitter, FaceBook, article submission and forum posts. But ONE thing that could make the biggest difference is to make a monthly/biweekly podcast and publish it on iTunes - your target audience.

    Good luck,
    Tobias

Monthly wouldn't be enough in my view... Weekly would be good, but if you could afford daily, it would bring the most results.

If you manage, loading up new videos daily would be a great idea to get people coming back all the time.
