How much fonts do you have?

    I have around 8k fonts, 2k installed.

How do you guys manage your fonts? I believe there are programs that help you view them easily and delete the ugly ones but I have not used any myself.

Also if you have thousands of fonts installed your windows performance slows down, that's why I want to keep only the professional and goodlooking ones.

I have less then 100 fonts installed right now. When i need to use another font i just place it, work with it, and then > out of system.

There is a font manager, a free utility, do a search at Google for it.

wow, all those fonts must have cost you a lot of money!

heh, I wonder how any are actually opentype, and I wonder of those opentype, how many you actually bother to use with the advanced features anyway.

There is a big school of thought out there that dictates that a designer ought to have 30 or 40 typefaces and that it's better to learn 2 or 3 REALLY well and have a close group of 30 that you use, than to try to find the single best one for each project.

Think of them like guitars and you're a guitar player. It's better to have your trusty 1 or 2 with which you can make any beautiful style of music, than to think that you need a different guitar for each song - and you never use one long enough to actually master it.

    umm.. (lol) how many?.

I am using them for graphic design, not directly into text on my websites :D

hehe, That's nice, I will do something similar.
To be honest, most of them are free and I've downloaded them in big packs of 1-2k from warez sites  Loved your last paragraph, I will take some time today and clean my collection and find some nice ones to frequently use ;)

I've got about 5 Linotype typefaces that I use regularly.

I use Suitcase to manage any others that I might have to use for a specific job.

I have 500 fonts installed. I do not install fonts more than that because my system becomes slow if I have more fonts. Specially when I use photoshop for designing.
If I need more fonts, then I delete the unused fonts and install new fonts.
