Review Site Layout & Design

Launched the site about 3 weeks ago, averaging about 100 unique visitors a day. Received some feedback that the site was somewhat slow - did a little work to optimize the script, and currently still working on it. Even tho the main purpose of the site isn't for revenue, I wouldn't mind it making a little money for me. Currently, my AdSense CTR is about 0.38%, with a total earned of around $10 since launch (was hoping for a bit more). I tried a few various ad forms and placements, with no change in results.

Any feedback you can give me on the overall layout of the site, specifically that of the AdSense placement and type, would be appreciated. It's a blogger account, so there's only so much I can do, but I feel like the placement of certain features could be somewhat improved. Thanks in advance.

Site of 3 weeks with 100 unique visitors a day is excellent .
The problem is increasing the CTR and going on promotion .
Try to change the ad position and text color/background color.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried a few different positions, but none of them really get any results. The one position that I haven't tried, that I've been trying to avoid, is directly above the first post. I think that may take away a little too much from the content.
