I am working on submitting to directories and am trying to figure out the best way to deal with the recipical links. I have created a page to list them on but do I need to have that page linked anywhere on my site? Could I just have the page of links somewhere on my site but noway of getting to it unless you know the address? Or would I get dropped from the directories for this? Thanks in advance.
You don't need to reciprocate links to directories just to have links from them. There's lot of free directories that can give links to your site.
you could do that but you should note that some directories will add a link to the reciprical page on your link detail page in the directory. so although there's no way to get to it from your site, it will be crawled by google via the directory site.
So perhaps the best way to go is to only go with ones that do not require a link back? hmmm not too sure
Follow the link to get list of 146 directories which are free to submit to, requires no reciprocal links, and approve very fast. http://sitesreviewed790.blogspot.com/2008/11/fastest-approving-free-directories-that.html
I have a list of hundreds of one way directories that don't require backlinks. Just shoot me an email if you would like it.
Less out going links and more incoming links is the way to go. Try not to link to everyone esp. directories with links under pr3.
So your link page is unknow for both search engines and people. Your reciprocal link is just equal to nothing. If you agree to exchange links, you should do so correctly. Otherwise, opt for free directories. Directories are just a first step in your link building. Getting links from related sites is another step. None of these related partners may agree to exchange links with a non-indexed link page.
I would just like to say that trying to game the system and people will only hurt you longterm. Why would you want to be so devious to people who would be willing to give you a link in their directory? Stop thinking about what you can get and start thinking about what you can give. By the way what is the name of your site? I want to make sure it gets banned if you submit it to any of my directories.
When you submit your site to a directory that requires a reciprocal link (nearly all high PR directories) the site owner can tell if the reciprocal link submitted is live. If the link is not live the submission is rejected. If you really want a one-way link, just pay for a featured link and you won't have to give a link back.
