High PR of heavily cited scientific papers & links in them!

Anybody ever notice how high the PR of a scientific paper can get!?!

I have a scientific website full of PDF's with scientific papers from authors that have allowed us to place them on the website. Some of these PDFs have very, very high PR's (up to PR5 or PR6) considering they are only fysically linked from one page on my website.

After doing some digging I found that the PR is voted to them by the large amount of citations from other scientific papers Google has indexed in their Google Scolar section. PR seems to be transfered to them through these citations!

Now, I was wandering if a link in these PDF's would also transfer this hign PR to the page it links to?

    Any thoughts on this?

Are you sure? Do scientific PDF's pass on PR, eventhough their own PR is based on the amount of citations?

Sure it can. I find PDF files online all the time. If Google can find and crawl them they could very easily be part of their algorithm for PR.

Hmm. just seems weird that PR given by non actual links, just citations (there is no actual link to the document), can get passed on by links....

This is quite interesting topic. So if you link to the pdf's with high pr it will increase yours? Never heard of linking to pdf's.
