I've written and submitted about 200 articles w/links directing back to my site to Ezine, about 100 to other article directory sites, and that's not to mention the probably 100 that got republished elsewhere. This has all been over the past 6 months and yet for the past 2 months (ever since i checked the number of backlinks from google toolbar) i've still had about 18 backlinks is all. What's going on here? I could accept that a handful of those articles are duplicate content dealies, but I should sure as heck have more than 18 backlinks by now. Ideas?
check your backlinks with yahoo explorer as google will not show all the backlinks. to get better result with google, register with google webmaster tools
Alright, I'll try checking in yahoo and report back. Anyone else? Also, what sorts of google webmaster tools should i be using which would help me with this?
This actually didn't open for me/it was a blank page. Good call to those who suggested yahoo as I have nearly all the ones I feel i should have there, over 400. Why doesn't google count these backlinks, and what's the point of using google to check or google tools like that if they leave out so many?
If you google "backlink checker" you get a bunch of them I have tried many and all seem to have different results. I just go with the one that shows the most. Here's one that seems to work ok. http://www.backlinkwatch.com/index.php GD
Have you tried MSN? Some of the things picked up by MSN doesn't show in Google and Yahoo. Google ignores a lot of cheap and useless links.
I also use backlinkwatch and find it helpful to know where my backlinks came from. Plus you can also see which of those backlinks are nofollow or not...
My question is will I rank higher in yahoo's SE cos they count more of my backlinks as opposed to google where i would rank lower with less? No?
