    1.Does SEO (search-engine optimization) work?
Yes of course, however many people will argue that maybe it doesn’t make much of a difference as Google does favour the idea of natural search results although people will always try and manipulate the results. Although there are some cowboys out there that think they're experts by giving you some very basic tips: meta tags and keyword research. Watch out for this, SEO can be as complicated or as simple as you want to make it. I'd recommend someone that understands the structure and coding of a site.

    2. Where do you see search in two to five years?
With the introduction of “universal search” I see search developing to become more media rich, some people promote the idea of “no future in SEO” but I tend to disagree, take for example how we all input data into computers, the keyboard and mouse, these are still the main input devices and I think will be for some time, although developments in this are changing but I don’t see this happening globally in the next year, therefore as long as people are inputting data this way, search won’t change too drastically, just the way in which the code is read by search engine bots, eg flash, video, images etc.

    3. What about social search?
This again will become more media rich, it’s a huge market and social media sites are becoming online communities, it’ll be interesting to see the way these go, but in my own opinion I think that the trend towards media rich content will continue.

    4. Will you ever roll out for-fee webmaster tools?
I’m not sure what you mean by “roll out” I guess you mean “pay out”? Well with Google giving free webmaster tools then I guess not, but if they made me pay, I’m sure another free alternative that’s just as good will spring up. This is the beauty of open source and the development of code within a community, there will always be a free alternative which is often (in this day an age) superior. Eg Firefox.

    5. On video search, is there a bias toward YouTube videos?
I’m going to say YES on this, Google own YouTube, so why not prioritise the number 1 video search engine?
Run a search on a song name and you’ll bet (if it’s popular) it’ll pop up on the 1st page of the Google results within YouTube.

    6. If you were to start a web-based business tomorrow, what key things would you do?
Employ me to get your SEO and online marketing done! :D
But a couple of very basic tips here, code hierarchy! Make sure you’ve got your site nicely coded, and given the correct hierarchy. Make it simple and easy for bots to crawl, as long as a good basic structure is in place is there it’ll be easier to add upon later. Media – look at adding media rich content to your site.

    7. What's going on with Google bombs -- are you still seeing them?
Of course run a search on “Greatest Living American” interesting results! Read the reports and join in with the fun. It’s especially good for highlighting media content value.

    Thanks :)

    3. Social search is developing rapidly. For example when considering group search. There are quite a lot of groups, which promote the certain products and receive their target customers from the social network, so first 10 groups from the search result will have a bigger chance in getting a customer. Thus, there is already quite a lot of competition within various groups in social networks.
