thought I was alone on this issue hehe, Funny thing is, I wrote some articles way back months ago and some words were even on my native language "non-english" and copyscape just gave me a their regular blah blah result of your site with "Only top 10 results shown for xxxxxx",... doh!!! I wrote them articles personally and copyscape is telling me I copied them??? grrrrr

I ended up deleting my posts after, now it seems I was wrong to delete them because copyscape tells me there are similar sites as what I wrote!

Note: I did not copy any text or referenced any site/content whatsoever, I wrote an article about songs in my native language, in english and mixed with my native words...

who do i trust now? me or copyscape? hehehe, go figure that out

I have used both Copyscape and other tools, and I found them all to be roughly the same. If the program is turning up false positives, then this is better than not notifying you of content duplicates. I find that, especially with popular topics, key phrases in your content will show up as duplicate. This is not only good for you, but can also be used as a competitive tool to find relevant SEO competitors beyond the 1000 or so that Google results gives you. Make lemonade with lemons guys, and quit asking for orange juice.

I checked a site out using copyscape that has unique text on it. However, it showed that there was one result, it was an identical copy ofthe page and the address was...

    adfreeproxy.com/browse.php/HUGELONGRANDOMSTRINGHERE

    what's this all about?

I haven't ever experienced this problem. Then again, I write all my articles from scratch.

Hmmm maybe some is fishy with copyscape ...who knows? It's probably best to use a variety of sources if you really want to be sure. Stating that you have compared your content with multiple sources to insure originality could be serve as a marketing brownie point for you!

I am content with the copyscape results but I dont like the side that they show only 10 results for "standard" users and you need a premium account for more, someone will compete them soon I am sure, maybe google itself:D

I am not sure about it. So far I have no problems with PlagiarismDetect. I checked my articles and then passed it on to my clients. I know my clients will check them again (using Copyscape and their own software) but I never get any complain yet.

I will take a look at articlechecker too.. if that would be even better.. :)

I have been using CopyScape ever since I started writing online and it has worked for me every time. Although I usually write everything from scratch (unless the client states that he/she just needs a rewrite), it has been quite useful for me. I cannot say the same about Article Checker though.

Some text patterns get picked by copyscape when they are actually not actual content like

"If you liked this post then please digg it" and similar texts that are placed by wp plugins for social bookmarking etc...

My 100% fool proof method of detecting duplicate content is copying a line of the article and put it in google search box between double quotes. always accurate result.

See guys, there may be many plagiarism checkers around on the internet but believe it or not copyscape rules. it has a monopoly over writing. Every posting on a freelance site or DP asks for copyscape passed article no one will say Plagiarism checker passed article. its like the Google of writing.. but it still has some flaws for sure but copyscape rules

Unless someone comes out with something better and everyone wants to see if its "_____ Passed", then Copyscape will remain king.

Ya, copyscape is the way to go, but tech entrance has a good idea that would probably work just as good.
