building a community

    What is the best way to gain a community of users for a site. Specifically, I have a niche digg-type site (is it ok to mention the name?) and it seems like a place plenty of individuals should want to post (two of the categories are commercial). Any ideas?

    Once you find a niche and build your community, start with word of mouth. That will get your friends and their friends to the site.

    Perhaps invest in some paid forum posting to begin with to fill your site up with interesting threads and replies.

    Then perhaps a little advertising and you are on your way!
