Hi guys, I'm the founder of Desktop Nexus, a computer wallpaper website. We just recently launched a new piece of software called SpinWall, and are looking for ways to promote it. We get over 60,000 uniques a day to our main site, so our primary focus is to get our existing users on the new software. We recently just deployed a catfish-style advertisement that slides up from the bottom of the screen a few seconds after the page is loaded. It's been online for about a day now and we've received very few clicks from it. I'm wondering if it's not working on certain computers. Would you guys mind going to http://www.desktopnexus.com/all/ (or any other page on our site), and telling me if you see a SpinWall advertisement slide-up from the bottom of the screen? Beyond that, I'd also appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks!
It worked fine for me in FireFox and Chrome, but didn't display the catfish ad in IE7. It's a very nice looking site, though. Do you have multiple monitor wall papers?
The catfish shouldn't display to IE6 users... but IE7 should work fine. What OS are you running? No, we don't support multi-monitors yet, however the tag "dual screen" has a few: http://www.desktopnexus.com/tag/dual-screen/
I went to http://www.desktopnexus.com/tag/adventure/ and received the following error (in IE7) Line: 78 Char: 2 Error: Object required Code: 0 URL: http://www.desktopnexus.com/tag/adventure/ This is the 'Error on page' message that shows up on the bottom left-hand corner of the status bar in IE7.
Okay, I think I know what's happening... I made a few changes to try and accommodate. Is it working now? You may need to Ctrl-F5 or clear your cache to see the changes. Thanks!
Mind doing me another favor? Can you view source of one of those pages, and do a search for "catfish". Does that word appear anywhere in the source? Also, could you check if you have a cookie set on your machine called hidecatfish from the domain desktopnexus.com? Thanks so much.
When I view the source, I do see a reference to catfish. I didn't have a hidecatfish cookie on my computer, but I cleared all the cookies and still don't see it.
That's really strange then... (and exactly why I made this thread in the first place) Do you see any scripting errors pop up? Thanks!
