It brings more competition and opportunity.

Imagine if you were the one to teach these people how to do it? How much money do you think you could make with that?

Mistakenly, a lot of people believe making money online is the answer to their prayers and the straight forward solution. Its not, and unless they get some good advice and guidance, its only going to add to their frustrations and problems.

    Hosting is cheap...
    Domain name prices are affordable...
Opportunities are everywhere, if you can create and sell useful, original services with little (or less) competition.

A lot of people that are getting laid off right now are venturing out on their own to start their own businesses online and offline. With cheap qualified staffing and cheap office space I believe it's a great time to start a business providing you don't need any VC financing and can bootstrap it. There isn't much job security out there and people are starting to realize this and capitalize on some of the benefits that a recession can provide. A lot of people are also going back to school as am I.

    Yes it the fact.
But i don't worry about the healthy competition coz this will make the market a more wonderful place.
For me,having a competition is good coz it will raise the standard and in the same time lower the cost.

We should also bare in mind, that during a recession, often advertizing rates are dropped slightly, meaning cheaper promotions for us!

Recession means people have more time to surf the net and look for cheaper purchase options. Sounds like a win-win for all web masters.

Yes - more people are turning to online work.

YES - this means more competition. And I would like to add, the competition these people bring is stronger then people that are already online.

The people that are turning to online work are bringing new ideas with them. This can be dangerous to people who think "inside the box". So unless your willing to adapt to the new competition, things might start getting rough.

As an example, you might have a marketing professional with a masters degree. His whole life he has worked behind a desk making multi-million dollar deals. He / She already has the experience, they just have to know how to apply what they already know to internet marketing.

The current crisis is not isolated to your typical blue collar workers. But white collar professionals are being thrown into the mix. These are not people who barely finished high school, these are real professionals with degrees.

Instead of these people saying "how do I market my website" - they are saying "How can I take that million dollar marketing deal I made last year and apply to to my site?"

I just hope that the market doesn't get saturated - I make websites for small businesses, so I guess it could work for people looking to start out!

I guess now is the time to start making eBooks people!

I think so. Because of this global economic crisis most people usually get online to earn extra income. We need to admit that this is the easiest thing to do to get job and earn money. People learned easily because of free tutorials and there's a lot of opportunity job here.

As with 99.9% of people who try to solve all their money troubles online, they don't see it as a business and as such they'll find some get rich quick, not get rich quick and then give up. So, there may be an influx of people launching sites but I doubt they'll be actual "competition".

Obviously the amount of competition growing is always increasing, but I don't believe the recession will affect that too much. Most people are fearful during recessions and they see businesses as risky ventures.

ya i agree with david, not a get rich quick idea....or at least it has all been done...unless you have an original idea! i think alot of the hype is the 8% of people (US) that have more free time now....

Not that many more people are trying to make money online now. Why? Because most of the "sheep" still think making money from the internet is a scam.

Believe me, I have tried to tell people recently how I am making money on the internet and I have people accusing me of being unethical, even though I am not asking them to buy anything or pay any money!

People have imprinted in their mind the disasters of pyramid schemes that went bad etc.

The only way around this maybe is to try running your own seminar for free. And to make money out of it you still have to convince them to buy your product. The "sheep" want everything for free, it is simply not worth wasting your own time on these people, they won't buy anything from you and they'll think its a scam for a long time anyway.

Number of people in web business encreased, but in fact it doesn't mean they can compete with old players. In fact there are some problems with those who are trying to earn "here and now" - they are making mess in "spheres of living", spamming and so on.

Recession is only the chanse to think about something new, it's even good from time to time to change your everyday life

I have seen a slight increase but in all reality if you are good at what you do on the internet you can see it as a way to make more money. It has taken me and would take the average person many years to learn everything I have about the internet and how to make money on it effectively. It is the same as any other industry, if the internet shut down and I was forced to go and try to start a company producing another product then I wouldn't know where to start, this is what I am seeing with many coming onto the internet to start businesses.

With retirement funds and 401k's in ruins, passive income is going to be a BIG subject in the news. With people being forced to take jobs at minimum wage, they are looking to tap into the Internet as a source of supplemental income. I would expect to see a BIG increase in the number of bloggers and those getting online to get a piece of the "green" market.
