You can make it a server to host your blog or personal website.
Other than that, you can try to make some online freelance job such as typing or designing job.

Do check with your ISP to see if they allow you to host sites or servers behind their network. Most of the consumer ISPs which I know do not permit you to do that.

Whats the upload speed of your connection? Less than 2 megabits per second up would limit the kind of content you could host. If you're not sure, you can check it here.

Typical servers have at least a 5 megabit per second upload connection, usually it's 10 to 100.

we are currently hosting three sites on two boxes with this connection.. im just a designer and this computer resides on my apartment with two different powerlines and connection a special setup from my friend's provider..

we dont know other ways to earn from it.. we got this on trial.. too expensive to maintain here for starters.

can we earn hosting a file or something? i just design, and place files in specific folders of apache that's all i could do.. i really need help before i lose this trial.

    thanks!

Since you are a web developer, it is possible to market your web designing business to your local businesses then after you design their websites, you can host them on your servers. People who needs web designs would most probably not know how and where to host their sites at and by providing a complete solution, you will attract those non-net savvy businesses who wants their presence on the net.

By the sounds of it, you don't really know how to run a server. It is my opinion that you will spend more trying to maintain the server than what you would actually make via the server. What you have is similar to me saying "I have wood guys, how can I make money off it? I don't know how to build things..but I can stack it up damn well" - I say sell the server. You would make more money, the longer you hold on to it, the more money it loses.

Good luck with whatver you choose.
