Is Meta Tag used to search by only one search engine?

There are a lot of varying information about SEO. I read in e-book that Meta Tag is used by only one search engine and most of the engine including Yahoo and Google don't care it. Meta tag means "Keyword" and "Description" tags. Is this right?

Google and Yahoo! both used them in their search engine results. So, both are important. Always try to use them in all the pages.

Who told you that? You are using meta tags in order to make your
site searchable in different SEs and that is one of the most important
thing in SEO. Meta tag is the keywords you are using to let the SE
know what your site is composed of while description is the place where
you put your keywords and also the one who introduce your site to spidy.

But different peoples using different tags for their use.
