Use site explorer on Yahoo and checkout your inlinks.

(search this on yahoo-- site:www.yoursite.com )

If you have pitiful inlinks, may be your problem.

Of late (more than one year indeed) there has been upheaval going on regarding PR of sites as google is cracking down on paid links.

Highly reputed sites like LINUX/PhpBB have been penalized from PR9 to PR5.

In this situation - I would been extremely happy - if I were you as PR4 is highly respected now by both SEs and people (how many normal visitors know of it anyway?)

    i am agree with jhnrang,
its very easy to get pr4 from pr0.. but its very difficult to achieve higher PR from PR4...as you need very quality back links which looks natural.

as per my view..pr4 is good...and you must aware that PR is not much affecting the search rank..so enjoy to visitors..

PR is far less relevant than it used to be. I would just focus on creating good content and quality backlinks from related sites.

r u on medication? did u even bother to read the question asked by OP?

@ OP, form PR4 to PR5 is a big jump and you will need lot more backlinks to reach there. if yuo need to increase you PR, then you need to keep building backlinks and acquire links form high PR sites

Most likely you have reached "your level" of PR for that page (presumably your home page). Without adding some more high-quality, niche-relevant, good-PR links, you are not likely to rise to PR5. Don't be disappointed, though. PR4 is not bad nowadays.

Well, what will you get by increasing your page rank. Nobody knows the logic behind the page rank as how they increase and what google consider best to increase your page rank.

Try to focus more on your ranking on serp. You should be focus on how bring your website on top of the result. Even 0 page rank website is coming on top and they are not worried for page rank.

In my opinion page rank is just another tool developed by google to confuse people.

Doesn't it depend on the PR of the inlinks also. If you have inlinks of pr0, they won't really do anything?

There are other factors involved, but yes, links from high-PR pages will help.
