I've posted a few threads in other areas on more long term solutions for my traffic problems. But, I'm in a new position and working 24/7 to build our traffic, but it's hard to explain the long proccess to dilbert committees.

What i'd like is info on some "LIGITEMATE!!!!!" tips on getting a initial blast of traffic, just to apease my boss and give us a head start.

I've been looking into article marketing services, but havn't found any that look legit.

I've have done the social bookmarking (by hand) stuff (which I heard got google slapped) with no results.

any ideas? Need a raise this year:D

I would try StumbleUpon...you can get quite a traffic, but it won't last for long unless your stuff is extremely good

Make the content worthwhile, unique and timely (scoop). Then refer your site to Slashdot, Technorati, Digg etc...

In all honesty if you want the results you're talking about you need to spend some money on paid advertising. Like Google adwords, advertising on the content network etc.

You could have a sig link in relevant topic forums, you could also go down the article marketing line (look into articlemarketingautomation.com).

If you want instant traffic, targeted traffic, this is just the path you would have to take.

As a backlink building structure I would strongly suggest you consider sponsoring some wordpress themes as well. This is a great way to build backlinks on autopilot over time and help increase search engine rankings and page rank.

Thats just my quick 2 cents.

Create lots of social bookmarking accounts across many sites and then bookmark your site. You can easily pull in 100 - 1000+ unique visitors a day. Article marketing isn't a bad idea either but is a time consuming process and needs to be done right. Best idea with both of those is out sourcing. Also, you won't get "google slapped" as long as you build overtime. Google only throws penalties when you do like 100 social bookmark links in 1 day or an hour or some thing... Just emulate natural growth and you should be good.

Three good article submission services are SubmitYourArticle, EzineArticles and GoArticles. Need traffic fast, google adwords are the way to go. Link submission scripts work well to gradually increase and maintain a steady flow of incoming links and thus traffic.

great tips everyone! Thanks so much for the time. I'll look in to all of these. As far as Adwords, we do spend about 20k, and I was looking for a blast without going up on the adwords budget.

    Hi Littleprayerbox,

The template idea was just something that came to me since hanging out in the forum.

If you go to the marketplace and go to the links section, you'll see a lot of people wanting their wordpress theme to be sponsored. The prices can range from 20-90 dollars in general. The good themes sell their links very quickly and some people seem to spend a fair amount on this, so it must be working for some people.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi there,

in a recent survey paid ads accounted for 35% of sales as opposed to 65% for organic so organic is still very significant.

    regards

you really should get into article amrketing for the long term goals.

for a quick boost, i suggest you use stumbleupon or buy some traffic to mislead your boss ;)

In this case I would suggest:

    SEM
SEO campaigns and social networking campaigns.

Stumble can be good but you can get slapped there too pretty easily.
