I use namecheap.com to search whether a domain is available. But i found out that everytime i found a nice domain, a same company will buy it the next day. This happened to me more than once so i think namecheap records all the domains that we search and sell those information to other company. Here are those domains that got stolen: putvideos.com videoside.com funnyegg.com videobump.com This is the company that stole it: chestertonholdings.com To make things worse is that when i emailed them, the company sell those domain at a very high price. For example funnyegg.com, they charge me USD400!!!!!! Is there a domain website that is safe for us to search available domain? What can i do to stop this from happening again?
Lesson learned: Don't wait a day, buy them right away. Probably counts for all registrars. BTW, what isn't yours can't be stolen off of you.
Seconded. If you never owned them in the first place, tehy can hardly be stolen. Why do you wait for a day anyway?
It is correct. I too learned the same lesson before. I searched for 3 domains, all were available and the next day all were taken. So i just chck and buy the domain instantly
This is a common problem. Read more about it at http://www.bobparsons.com If you wait they may become available again.
The problem here is not whether i own them or not. The problem is that it is unfair to us because after spending so much time to search for a domain but end up what we search is recorded and easily taken by those company. Is that fair? I waited one day because i have the habit of searching a list of available domains and compare which is nicer.
Not saying they are but figure this... You are a registrar and offer a domain search on your site... Visitor searched and finds business.com to be available... It's valued at $25m-ish... Question: Would you program your script to send yourself an email - or perhaps trigger a sale to yourself automatically? It's easy from a programmatical point of view; let the visitors work for you. Life is unfair from the moment you were born... Best get used to it. Not that you have to be unfair to enjoy life but do expect the occasional rip-off. It's a greedy world.
Of course its not fair. But its what happens. If it was fair they would tell you when you check for the name that unless you register it straight away they will register it themselves.
whats about http://www.domainsbot.com/ is they record all thing. i think they used flash player... so its low riskey... ithink... Waiting for your replay.... Guys
well, maybe it's time for you to change your habits then... if something's good, snap it up as soon as possible... it's the same in real life... when you get a good offer, don't pass it up...
Heard for the 1st. time and i think it is a nice site Just checked it. Looks good for domain name suggestions
I don't think they will become available again, because they keep it and resell it at higher price. They won't just let the domain go. I wish they will because i spent almost 1 week to find a domain that is suitable for my site but the company just easily take it away from me. Is this legal?
At the moment i have experinced with two months.... and for that way... i had create many good domain name atleast 472.... and nothing happened... no one register yet.....
Change my habit? Someone suggest me to think of those domains I want to register first, then only search for it and if it is available then straight away buy it. I don't think this is a good idea because what if you bought a domain, then the next day you come up with a better one? So you'll end up with alot of redundant domains?
I registered around 15 domain names through godaddy, never had this problem. Most of the times I would wait for several days. I've always thought of this as a possibility, but fortunately I have only used godaddy for all my domain name purchases.
