Different ad blocks for different Categories - Which Forum Software helps?

    Hi all

I am planning to create a generic forum with numerous categories and subcategories. And the monetization will be by selling appropriate affiliate products in each of these numerous categories.

In this regard, I would like to know which of the free forum softwares would let me display such ads based on categories. I am currently not looking at paid options like VBulletin..

    Thanks

More precisely, I would like to know if either of SMF or PhpBB or BBPress or Vanilla would help me achieve this..

i know the ad mod for SMF will let you have that kind of control over ad placement.

PhpBB3 looks like an option for you. You can control the ads based on various parameters ( Category, User Group,Position)
Last time I checked SMFads mod was not yet compatible with the latest smf version.

i don't care what that says, the mod works and i can guarantee that it will.
ad_mod_1-1-x_v2-3.zip will install on the default theme of a 1.1.8 SM Forum.

i've done it for many people and will probably do it a few more times.

All i meant is that ..it might not be a stable mod for 1.1.8....
Surprisingly even the smfads developer do agree ..that there might be a few problems ..

Although I have not tested it ..
