I thinking just adding your site to your signature here in dp gives you a PR 2.

I had a blog that I was active for just 1 month on it and it got a PR 2. I was commenting on other blogs. I didn't look for a do follow blog or a high PR blog. But if you want a higher PR , look for do follow blogs.
I submitted my blog to like 6 blog directories.

I didn't do any on page SEO because I used a blogspot. I submitted my site to just digg, reddit and stumbleupon.

The easiest way is submit your URL to dofollow directory, posting at dofollow forum and coment on dofollow blog.

Concentrate on off-page seo work and get backlinks from some pr websites/blogs. Your blog will get more than 1 pr. But try to get the backlinks from the relevant websites, blog, directory, etc.

I agree fully with this technique.
I would also like to add that - rather than going after PR - go after generating a dedicated readership group.
Its only a vibrant community of regular readers who can make a blog successful.

If you aren't planning on putting up ads any time soon, try switching your domain and content over to Wordpress.com. (Just make sure you don't use the default sub-domain but rather use your purchased domain.)

It will quickly increase both your PR and your exposure, and many of the incoming links you gain from the exposure will remain after you leave Wordpress.com and go back to your hosting company.

Your advice is great. That is very important. After all that is what we want in the quest for building a successful blog. Readership is everything no matter from where it comes.

So quality of the site lies at the root of all things for the site.

Nobody really looks at PR anymore. Just focus on creating good content and participate in the community (blogs and forums) as mentioned above to start developing a readership. Try using social networking sites to get more traffic... once you get the traffic people will read the blog (assuming you have good content). Investing in directories like yahoo and dmoz is good too.

That's exactly how it works. You can get PR2 or PR3 based on the hard worj you put up.
