What is the best and most accurate way to determine a domain's pagerank? I hear people can create "fake pageranks". How can you establish whether a pagerank is genuine or not? I use dnscoop.com usually. Is that accurate enough? Thanks in advance for any help with this.
I've found dnscoop.com to be pretty accurate with PR and whether it's fake or not. To be safe, I'd generally suggest you use 2-3 of the free services out there. If they all come back and say the PR is valid, you will be pretty safe. Never 100% though. Cheers Tim
Hi guys. Appreciate the responses. I'll try all three. Disappointed there is nothing concrete or conclusive, but I think a healthy mix of the three suggested will help. Thank you, I appreciate it.
I would also like to ask, is there anyway of telling if a domain has been "dropped" or not? i.e. is there anyway of telling if the domain is still valid/active?
By keeping track on record of whois changes for specific domain name you may determine actual dropped domain name.
Just use a site like dnscoop.com or similar, it shows you the age of the domain. If it cannot find the domain generally it's because it has been dropped and is available as a new domain registration, otherwise you can tell from the age it shows when it was registered last. If it got dropped recently and reregistered it would show the number of days, etc. There are many sites like this out there, this is just one I use that I like because it shows other things including page rank, backlinks, etc as well as the age. Cheers Tim
