Why is Yahoo quicker than Google

    Hi,

I recently submitted our site http://restaurantsstokeontrent.co.uk and with some basic SEO were were number one in yahoo within two days, but are still struggling to match this feat in google.

Why is it that yahoo is quicker to index than google, is there anything that i may be doing wrong??

    Thanks Sam

I don`t think they are necessarily quicker all the time.

I add new pages to my sites. Sometimes they get indexed by Google in a matter of just one day, other times it takes several days.

I`ve given up trying to work out why the time difference.

You`ll probably also find that it`s how Google view your keywords in comparison to how Yahoo or other search engines do.

Sometimes, Yahoo, Google, MSN surprise each other by being the first ones to index a site.

Nothing like that, Generally Google index new page more easily and fastly than Yahoo!

    Read 2 posts above you.
The algorithm of the Search Engines is different, hence yahoo picked it up before Google.
Google once grabbed my link in 7 minutes.

I usually have the opposite, my sites show up on Google way before they do on Yahoo. But there have been a few like that, that get surprisingly good ranking on Yahoo and nothing on Google.

I launched 2 sites this week and Yahoo beat Google for indexing. Of course, Yahoo would index my dog if I had him linked to any of my websites.

Nofollow/Dofollow DOES NOT really matter when it comes to crawling.
It only matters when it comes to pagerank.

That's what we've been talking about in the previous posts.
It all comes down to the algorithm of the search engine.
Sometimes Google wins, sometime Yahoo does.

Yup! that was right. Yahoo is quicker to index than Google. But in Google's part. maybe they have lots of site's to be indexed being the top Search Engine on the Web.
