I figured out a way that you can get .edu backlinks easily and free. Please let me know what you think of this. Find a mailing list that will get archived into websites.. using a program such as hypermail. or mailman Join that mailing list and reply to conversations and put your URL in as a Sig link. once that email is digested into a webpage, bingo!.. you got a backlink! I am not going to give out any mailing list as it will become a spam farm, you need to find it yourself!.
Well I have used .EDU, .GOV links before and it has been beneficial to me and also it helps in the ranking of my websites. Any other tricks to get an .EDU/.GOV links?
one week later update. I now rank #1 on Google for some big keywords. This was basically my only link building technique that I used this week . I would like to give this method Credit How ever there is one extra step that you might have to do. When you email gets archived into the website, the web page will not be indexed. I am not sure if any of them get indexed so what I did was create a blog post and add the link to the .edu webpage in my blog. A few hours later I checked and it was indexed.
I have a question. Most of the .edu guys moderate their mails. How do you pass their moderation? I guess they allow posts only from insiders (their edu domain mails) ?
Another idea that came to me......because my daughter is enrolled there.......... Have your kid go to U C Berkeley (or other college with .edu domain). Insist that he/she join one of the many clubs with a web site. Once a club member, he/she will have access to the club's university (.edu) web site or blog, with the ability to post a do-follow link to parent's place of business.
very cool i was thinking about that. you should have her do that and sell the links here on dp. it will prob help her pay for college!
nice tips. but I certainly don't want to spam on their email system. it is not a nice thing to do.. I will be more than happy to get some legit clicks rather than baiting PR5-6 site for text links ads.. but it's a great idea.. though..
