Adsense eCPM or eCPC could be increased by using Adsblacklist.com. Anyone have good/bad experience with adsblacklist?
Its not at all illegal. You have the rights to block competitor ads from adsense as a publisher. To get started with this service, you’ll first have to create an account for free. You can submit your sites and the popular keywords for your site. This service uses these keywords you define for your site to generate a list of MFA and LCPC sites. You can take this list of sites and add them to the Competitive site filters in your Google Adsense account (Adsense Setup>Competitive Ad Filter). This means that ads from the filtered sites won’t come up on your site, and effectively increasing your earnings.
If you had any sense to even visit the link provided, you wouldn't have written this post. Thanks for the linnk, I've seen an exhaustive list before in the same forum, I must say I'm glad I don't have many MFA's in my niche.
I used to use this, then thought "hang on"... doesnt adsense try give you the best price for the ads on your webpage anyway... so surely blocking some sites will result in earning less?
That's a common misconception. Adsense gives ads that MAY pay better overall through the entire network (when you count number as well as $), but not specifically to your site. I for one do not use adsblacklist. I look at what ads are on my site and visit them every so often (no, not by clicking the ads) It's often easy to spot the low paying MFA ones and I remove them. They are ones that do my visitors no good so I would remove them to improve their viewing experience even if they paid better. With only 200 filter slots you have to target ads that are showing up on your site, not ones that might based hazily upon your keywords. To me that is more effective.
But not always,Adsense will try to give you the best paying advertisements from top to bottom of your page.Top of the ad will be a high paying one and decreases as it goes below. That is if you are using a number of ad blocks on your page then surely those "MFA ads" will find a place on your site. These MFA's generally have a catchy ad title and is likely to steal away clicks from the high paying ads in our niche and their by decreasing our overall CPC.
I don't rely entirely on it, however. I still manually review and filter the ads that are shown on my sites, essentially using the output of AdsBlacklist as a good starting point.
That mean we should always place ads on top of each page ? do you have any relevant reference link where i can get more details on the same. Thanks in advance
I don't think there is any need of doing all these things. You just have visitors in your site and if those visitors are targeted to your niche then you will be paid high. That's all.
Its not actually the "Top of page" as you think. It means that Advertisers biding higher for that keyword will have the top most position in that ad block and h hence your eCPC will increase. As you might have noticed that the click value of an ad will be higher if only that one ad is present in a 336 x 280 ad block. If 3 or 4 ad links are present, then it would have a comparatively lower click value.
If you use this be sure to do extensive testing. I had the max number of sites blocked for about 3 months, then I decided to unblock them to see what happens. My earnings went up by a huge %. The MFAs force legit advertisers to bid for higher for direct placements on your site.
eCPM is based on your CTR and CPC. If Adsblacklist can increase the eCPM, then it mean that it is actually increase the CPC (I believe it wouldnt affect the CTR). So, i dont think so, it shall not able to increase adsense CPC
