Quick question about www in front of domain name, does it matter?

Should I put a www in front of my domain names or is it just personal preference?

http://www.domain-name.com/ VS http://domain-name.com/

What do you think???

I am in the process of moving from a shared hosting account to a VPS, the WWW seems to be working and auto directing to www. now that I have upgraded my Wordpress. The WP version Lxadmin installed was outdated...
