100,000 member email list, would it drive sales?

What I don't understand is quite a few marketers have lists with over 100,000 people on them and some of them get around 300 sales for one or two mailings. How does that work then?

 

My sites and methods will be sent to the first three that want them in a couple days. Don't worry, you WILL get them if you're one of the first three

 

I would send them newsletters with useful info and once in a while drop in a product to sell.

Hey guys, I have excellent news. Yesterday I had 520 people opt-in to my email list. It's a new personal record for me and I just thought I'd share it with you quickly. Gotta go

 

I have a e-mail list of 500, which is quite a bit less that what you have, and whenever I send out a bulk e-mail about current specials or new things I end up bringing up sales for that week. However my e-mail list is niche related and they have all signed up for my newsletter, so I think you would need a list of people who actually know that they are receiving your letter and want it.

 

Oh yeah. 100,000+ = goodness.

 

It'd be good to have a list of optin's from a target niche even half that big..

 

If ever I can arrange an email list of so or more, can I get a job of doing marketing through these lists...
Will it be still effective if collected from different sources on the net???

 

Sorry, I have no clue what you're asking. Do you mean a job in general marketing through your or somebody else's lists or a job from me marketing through my lists? Try to build your own opt-in mailing list because if you rent or buy other lists, you could get in trouble with spam, because the recipients didn't give permission for you, the buyer, to send them emails, just the original list owner.

 

cballpro is right. Your email list should be one that you have generated yourself from people who want to hear from you. Buying or renting lists is useless as those same lists have been used over and over so many times that the potential sales or potential prospects you could get out of it have already been harvested. Some of the recipients of yahoo or gmail or other free email accounts may have abandoned their accounts due to the high volume of unwanted emails.

Actually I got a one list of so through one of the sources on net having million email id's .. I thought I might use it in some way in internet markting.....

kay, I sent my personal list building methods to 2 people that requested pms and there is still one more person that can get them.

 

Update - My list building methods are no longer available as the 3 people have already claimed them free. I may be selling the methods in the future, but I'm not too sure.
