Hey guys just finished my 3,000 word article on putting a price on a Blog. It was a little bit too much to cover in one article however I didn't feel like slicing the article up. If your interested in reading the article you can check it out here, whats your thoughts? How to put a price on a Blog
One step process to get people to read your blog: Cut out the fluff the don't write such long articles.
That had the fluff cut out, I always try to cut the crap out but it doesnt help when there is so much to write about. Anyways, I also try to structure it so its good for skim reading, sometimes works.
3000 words article is kinna too long. As much as I know the best standard for online articles is no more than 250 to 300 words thats it. You have written kinna article of equal to 10 to 20 standard articles.
Very few people read articles, especially long articles. People quickly scan headlines then decide if they will read. What is the point in making something so long if it won't be read. Break it up, use lots of headlines, cut to the important parts.
While I am too tired to go through it in detail, it seems good at a glance. You could also distribute/circulate it as a free ebook. It is long and comprehensive enough.
I think some of your points are true, but really discouraging for anyone who buys websites. There are people who do sell websites (i've bought one) that was worth the money I've paid for it. I have more than quadrupled what I paid for it. The problem is that not everyone is in this boat. Your second point is true, in that value is hard to put on something like a website. However, if you think you will EVER sell a website that isn't making anything for any real substantial money just because it has potential, you have to be kidding yourself. Just like I won't go out and buy a 1970 Camaro that is all beat up, has broken windows, won't start, etc. Just because I think I can fix it up. You buy sites for what their worth, not what their potential is. This is a fair warning to anyone who does want to invest in a website. NEVER BUY A SITE FOR ITS POTENTIAL, BUY IT FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH. Every single website online has potential, only a small percentage ever make any money.
in the world of blogging, most article writer is only limited there article only contain 300 words with around 3-4% density ,though ,I think you shall follow the same ,your article is unique but it takes more then it ,to make your reader happy to read it
Thanks for your comments everyone, I have quoted this one because I wanted to reply. The second point I made wasn't that buyers would purchase a Blog for the potential but instead that sellers would value their site for the potential it has where as buyers would only value it on its current condition. Thanks again everyone for your replies. It seems no one likes long articles today, I may start to cut them up a little bit. I do enjoy writing long more in depth articles but I suppose there is little point if no one reads them. Instead I may cut them up in to 700-1,000 word articles. The person who said 300 word articles are the best, I totally disagree you can't write much in 300 words. Although some points that your getting across might be better written in 300 words most articles I feel should be around 500-700 words. I just like to go that little bit more in to depth. Thanks
I think the exception to this is with sites will top domains. A good domain is worth paying for potential.
Thank you Great point to make, something I probably should of mentioned in my article however it was breaking the 3,000 word barrier and I don't want to go too far. Perhaps I should of broke this article down... Good point to make though.
Really? How strange my website has nothing bad on it, and it seems fine on my antivirus software and no one else has ever said this, I would check your antivirus system if I was you.
I can't remember where I saw this but a great blogger once said something along the lines that readers speed through your blog and you'll be lucky if they read every line. Make the article stand out with information that is clearly visible. Good luck.
Nice and informative article! I have not read it from start till end, but have gone through all of its main points and the details within. Thanks for sharing it. I have always been unsure on how to rate my blog when it comes to selling it on some price tag, now I have few solid points to look into it. I like the traffic earnings, but will every buyer agree with $0.25 per visitor? Because that will boost my blog to $xx,xxx.
