I love amazon too. I start earning some money form my small blog "Best Stock Prices" post some products from amazon, I have some earn ... It,s OK for me.
Target a very specific niche, and give them all the information they need to be ready to make a purchase by the time they click on the link.
i joined their kindle affiliate program and lanuched the ppc campaign on google, i drove over 1000 clicks to their link but no even 1 sales!!! i want to say,..f word! what hell of Amazon program, BS!
You might want to take a closer look at your PPC campaign. Make sure you are using long-tail phrases that target people who are looking to buy. Also make your ad text appeal only to people who are looking to purchase. Overall I would not recommend doing a PPC campaign for the Kindle. Most people who know about/want a kindle are aware that they can just go to Amazon.com and buy one.
thanks a lot! franklin, I also found this problem! PPC for amazon really sucks! really!though my ads is related to pre-order(Kindle 2 just in the market) i think I have used long tail keywords ,but no impression!for me, i have experienced so many "click happy","click curious","click research" and wasted so much money, i am so dull!
Amazon is a really good program. I've been doing pretty well over the past 5 months creating product review sites and driving traffic to them via PPC (Google Adwords and Yahoo PPC). Bottom line is that you have to be very specific and targeted in your keywords to get a good conversion rate. I also like to experiment with other affiliate programs in conjunction with Amazon, like eBay. I find that I get a higher conversion rate when I do. All it takes is a little experimentation to find the right mix. @Breakaway: thanks for sharing your awesome post! -Brad
@attilakhan - Sorry to hear you lost so much money, but tweaking your PPC skills and campaigns is probably a better approach than attacking Amazon. Hate Amazon all you want, less competition for me, but as another member said, the problem is with your PPC campaign. I have a Nintendo Wii site, and I've been able to sell 3 (three) Kindle 2's from that site, and I didn't even promote it. It's all about driving the right kind of traffic to amazon. I added a Kindle 2 banner to my site today to see if I get any more Kindle 2 sales. I was blown away by getting 3 sales and my site has absolutely nothing to do with Kindle 2, or even reading. Video games are like the antithesis of reading. Anyhow... the sites were custom designed by me. All links hand-built... I am a control freak, and have tried different programs, etc, but hand building them gets them just how I want.... As far as the cookie not being good cuz it's only 24hours.... it's all about driving the right type of people to Amazon. If you make a bunch of money with other affiliate programs, use those.... My experience is those that complain about Amazon's program, are those who: 1) can't pick the right niches, 2) Can't do internet marketing problem to get the right PPC or SEO organic visitors, and 3) Can't convert visitors into sales. ... which means, they probably fail at most affiliate programs, Learn some internet marketing basics.... spend some time doing keyword research to pick the right keywords... and hustle.... and you'll see results with Amazon, and any other affiliate program.
Not a bad post. I love amazon too mainly because it is a trusted brand and most people already have an account on there. Wouldnt mind knowing how to improve my converstions but I doubt anyone knows that other wise they'd be rich and not posting here!
Another reason why I love the Amazon Associates program..... I just got my December deposit of $8,685.63!!!
This is fantastic.. Usually people make posts like this as a scam..But I can see you have a few sites and they are of real quality..Well done.. I wish I could focus and do something like this.
You are just doing what Amazon should be doing for themselves, saving Amazon $$$. Don't buy in to forum posts saying that they had good success with PPC for Amazon products etc. Many of those who post are likely to be paid advertisers.
That's encouraging. I am about to start my new AOM store as well. Hope to hear more success stories from others
