How long do you think it will take before the economy starts to stabilize?

The economy is bad! People I know got laid off. Friends' 401K become 201K (cut in more than half of what if was six months ago).

Sure hope that things will change soon. But judging from what has been happening and the terrible stock market performance, I wonder how long will it take before the economy starts to simply stabilize?

IMO it would be a good couple of years yet, well here in the UK things are still getting worse.

I'd say 1 1/2 years to stabilize, then another 2 years to get some ground

The economy hasn't bottomed out yet and it's expected to continue getting worse for another 2-3 years. That's what I've been hearing anyway.

Unless Oblama gets some help in figuring out how to use the stimulus plan and the foreclosure plan it could be a couple more years. He really doesn't have a handle on things yet and it doesn't appear he has the people with the knowledge to implement a really solid bailout plan.

Now that Bush is gone and Obama is on it, I'm assuming that it would be soon, but with people like Paris Hilton, on a spending spree, claiming it helps the economy.....I don't think so.....
What little Ms. Hilton does not understand is ONLY the rick labels bosses make money out of her spendings.... the Common Man still starves....

Japan with its huge surpluses took 10 years. I guess it will be between 5 to 10 years for USA. There simply isn't a short cut to this.

There is no good news for the economy this year (2009) and the later part of 2010 may show some improvements. That's my guess, btw...

The present crisis is precipitated by the lack of confidence in the general public and banking institutions, at large..

This kind of loss always takes time and hence time would be the only factor which will be able to restore confidence amongst the people..

Let us hope things would improve...at least by early 2010..

    Regards,

I think the economy will improve after many years, we shouldn't forget what happened in the '30,some say that this is just an effect of that crisis,so let's pray that we won't end up like then
