Linking in forum signatures?

Would linking on forum signatures provide a good way to have the anchor text you want in your link? What do you think?

 

It helps a bit, but it definitely isn't as effective as other links. You typically need a high number of forum signtuare links to have much effect. If the forum is relevant to what you're promoting, the extra direct traffic would make it more worthwhile.

 

It helps in getting traffic than increasing rank.The forum in which you are promoting website through signature is relevant or identical or quite matches your website category then it would be helpful.

It may send you a little bit PR juice. I believe guest posting is the best strategy for link building.

Many of you are of the view that text links in your forum signatures are of lowly importance.

I suggest you think again.

I normally keep changing the text links when I discover hot relevant forum threads.

Example: Say there is a hot thread (3+ pages) about 123 product and I'm promoting 123 product.

My signature will be slightly revised (leaving the anchor links) to Text Link #1 Text Link #2 123 Product.

Yes, e.g. you go to a relevant blog and post a comment with a link linking back to your site. Preferably in anchor text!

 

It doesnt hurt adding your link in forum signatures, but i agree that blog commenting is more effective.

 

Having your link in your forum signature does help, but I wonder what happens when your post count reaches 1000 or 5000.
Blog commenting also helps as you get a backlink if your comment is accepted. The hardest part is trying to leave a link using anchor text in the actual comment without looking spammy.

 

Links in forum signatures are more useful in driving traffic rather than passing the PR juice. To be more effective, participate in as many forums as possible and select the anchor texts based on the targeted keywords and have different anchor texts for different forums. BTW, niche related BL do better...

 

It can only help with backlinks.

 

This wil especially help if you are in a forum that is relative to your website's content and theme.

 

I agree. It has helped me out a great deal and I have only been in the forums for a couple of weeks. Be sure to use anchor text that is in your meta keywords and title if possible.
