Could anyone please tell me if kick starting my forum with autoposter will that do me damage?. please give advice
I dont see where it could hurt. Be sure to use targeted RSS feeds to pull from. So you get good targeted keywords in the title of the threads. Such as, if you run a computer forum, pull feeds from CNet. I am running 3 forums and all 3 have RSS posting bots on them. 2 of the forums are new and one forum is well established. In the forum that is established, I have a couple of bots that pull articles from yahoo news and the british broadcasting company (BBC) website. The news bots post in the news sections every 12 hours. This means that my members have updated news articles on a daily basis. The RSS posting bots can be used to fill up a forum, and also provide a service for the members.
Thanks for the great Advice. I may use an RSS bot for a few topics, even may start a tutourial catergory.
A couple of things to keep in mind, Do not flood your forum, make the bot post only a few times a day. Keep the post topics on target. This means using RSS feeds that are related to your forums topic. I have the RSS posting bot on my sons site turned up because I want lots of threads posted. Once the forum hits around 2,000 threads, I will turn the posting rate down.
