Which is the best way to check your backlinks?

Hi, I want to know how to check my backlinks status and number. I saw that people use www.domain-pop.com and www.backlinkwatch.com , but the first site is too slow and sometimes it shows me errors, and with the second one I cannot see the Page rank of the backlinks. Is there a program to do this or? Finally a friend of mine told me about Firefox extension - I really can't remember it's name, but I installed it, and it was very useless.
    Thanks a lot!

I use yahoo site explorer and google webmaster tools. If details for the backlinks is also required, you can simply use seoquake.

I use www(.)linkpopularity(.)com which is a free service and shows the backlinks from google, yahoo and msn. BTW, I trust yahoo for the total number of backlinks for any particular site...

I am using www.backlinkwatch.com. Seoanalytics is also very good.
But I think Google webmaster tool is most recommended to check backlinks.

Try WEB CEO, this is very nice SEO tool, you can get it for free, but anyway it has a premium version too, but I am using its free version since one year for checking serps position, backlinks ans SITE parameter, and it works absolutely perfect.

Well the one thing I don't like about it is it reports site wide links because it's getting its data from the Yahoo API. LinkVoodoo gives you the option to only show one of the links so it doesn't cause tons of clutter in your report.
