Yahoo answers has a lot potential and like others said in the thread, it's good for a quick surge of traffic, your answers will even get indexed in the SE... HOWEVER...what I don't like about yahoo answers, is that anyone.. and I mean anyone can report you to Yahoo..out of jealousy/competition..and Yahoo suspend you automatically and ALSO remove all the other answers you have provided..

So for anyone out there planning to use it, I'd do it only as a last resource lol.. and do yourself a favor...avoid promoting the money market in YA.. as I give you 1 month to get your account banned ;)

The traffic is consistent, but is generally targeted enough to get money out of.

I am using Yahoo answers for some time now. In my opinion it works really well, because you get targeted traffic. I haven't been ever banned, so the main thing is NOT to spam and answer only relevant questions and it will bring you some good traffic.

I'm having great time with yahoo answers. You will get more traffic if your answer is selected as best. Don't give answers in hurry wait at least 10 min to give the next answer. I've been using yahoo answer for one month or so and posted around 200 answers so far and selected as low as 20 times, as the best answer. Enjoy the traffic.

I didn't know you can easily get suspended or banned from Yahoo Answers. its good to know cause i just reply to those questions and then send some of my favorite sites, some social network sites and finance sites.

    Thanks

Yahoo answers is a great way to get targeted traffic. I would rather get 10 targeted visitors than 100 untargeted since I would probably get a sale or two with the targeted traffic

Using Yahoo answers to drive up traffic is a great idea, but in a different way. It's not about getting people to follow the links after they read your question but to increase your PR(Page Rank). With an increased Page Rank you get higher a search results on search engines and in return more traffic.

How do you get traffic from Yahoo Answers if you are not allowed to post your referral links there?

I guess, yahoo answer's links are nofollow, i just checked that in their source.
But yeah it can be goood for a bit more extra traffic, and yes it converts as well.

I found Yahoo Answers = non conversion traffic.

Don't get me wrong, Yahoo Answers are great for :
    1) establishing people's needs
    2) social networking
    3) learning how to write informative answers to questions

Armed with this knowledge, you might be able to enhance your website / business to convert better, so indirectly, Yahoo Answers could aid you.

I will tell you a secret though...Yahoo Answers are the GREATEST for ......airing grievances! If you have been scammed, schemed or hard done by... write about it on YA (don't mention names though). People just love a good juicy story. You get loads of attention because people sympathise. Works better than scam.com!

I tried using yahoo answers a few times but I never could figure out how to use it to get the traffic without looking like a scumbag so I quit using it.. I was using it correctly. In other words I didn't just post links to my site. I only posted links to my site when it was relevant and yahoo still removed it.. I gave up but I know it is still useful. You just need to master a certain technique to use it correctly and make it effective. Dave

Keep in mind Yahoo Answers prohibits adding links if they are not relevant to answering the question.

    That's how to get banned.
Only add your url when it's relevant to the answer, it's not like a forum sig.
