I heard people saying that when links to a site are removed, google reports less indexed pages.

it seems when ur files were refreshed they are in compressed format so it has been reduced to 25 pages... or you check your uploaded content wether its thr or not...... :)

first create sitemap.xml and add to your google webmaster toolbar and then check there what is the exact reason for that and if you already created xml then you need to update regularly.

    can you prove your words?
how can you say his blog penalize? He is saying index pages is 50 but now it's only 25 index page it's mean google showing 25 page is still index if his blog is penalize then index pages should be 0.

Google update regularly so may be that's why it's index pages are decreased and there were some pages which can't be cowled by googlebot or there was possibility for 4xx error. there are so many reason for decreasing index pages but I'm dam sure it is not penalize by google.

Do you have all URLs in the sitemap? If you are using hosted blog then sitemap may not be possible. Then you are out of luick and cant do anything

Submit the xml sitemap to Google through webmaster tools and Google will report to you how many pages out of the sitemap urls are indexed.

Some pages go to secondary index. Build some links to the pages not showing int he index and they will return to the index.

Yes vikassah & master.seo12 are both correct. There's nothing to worry about just make sure all the pages in ur blog are included in the sitemap.xml and make sure u update it in Google's webmaster tool.

If the content is duplicate then google removes indexed pages
