Google Minimum 1st Page Bid-It's a Hokes!!

I was running a campaign in an untouched market where I was the only advertiser and Google still recommended a 1st page bid. How is it that I am the only advertiser and my bid is still not high enough. Did Google really get rid of their "minimum bid requirement"? I don't think so! Let me explain what this change is supposed to do:

In the past few months Google changed its "minimum bid rule" to a "recommended 1st page bid". For those of you who are not familiar:

Minimum Bid Rule: if your bid was not above a specified dollar value (set by Google) your ad would not show instead displaying an "inactive for search" message in the UI.

First page bids: are an estimate of the bid it would take for your ad to reach the first page of search results on Google web search.

Because of the change everyone's ad will show regardless of keyword bid (maybe not in a preferred position but it will show) and there will be increased competition which will improve the quality of the search results and provide the searcher with more options but also may increase the advertisers CPC, CPA, etc.

I think he means hoax, and no I dont think they have got rid of their min bid - they instead use the first page bid, in order to get people upping their Max CPC. If you are the only person bidding for that keyword then it's quite probable that:

Min First Page Bid = Minimum Bid.

If you have a high Min First Page Bid look at your keyword Quality Score.

First of all a hokes is Slang To give an impressive but artificial, false, or deceptive quality to: hoked up some phony allegations. (dictionary.com)

I am sorry I cannot disclose any details about the campaign. I am under contract.

muchacho79 your comment sounds about right, it just agitates me!
