As a common sense I would say to myself to stay away from this thread, Then second thought comes, whom should I believe and why so? Ofcourse there is never gonna be a clear cut issue because none of our uncles is at google. I have seen with rare keywords you are the don and get the #1. But with popular and demanding its difficult,but even if get the top 10 whats wrong. But are we paying rightly for this, I mean is there anything that we cant do that this person knows.
OK mate, If you believe it is possible to rank G#1 for web hosting in a few months why you simply do not register a domain name for $9 and build a simple web-hosting reseller website and start to promote an affiliate program? There are any paying $100 per sale. Being at G#1 for webhosting means you will be at top 3 for MANY keywords too.... How much does it cost to get G#1 for web hosting?
Yes I can explain this for you. Googles mission is to be the most relevant search engine. In order for this to happen at times for certain words, websites must be # 1 For example if you search for pepsi. then Pepsi Cola must rank # 1 if Google is to be the most relevant search engine. Harrods - Harrods.com Hyundai - Hyundai.com Baseball - MKB.com and virgin - Virgin.com (Don't know how Branson pulled that off lol ) google - Google.com So if I search viagra then viagra.com must be # 1 and this will not change unless Google decides they no longer want to be the most relevant search engine. This is why the OP is full of crap..... Basically any brand / trademark owner, when their brand or trademark is searched in Google, must rank # 1 ...... Op is living in fool's heaven thinking number of search result on google is the primary and main indicator for the level of competition not realizing that certain terms cannot be ranked #1 no matter what. haha! hunting with blanks for sure and its gonna be a long hunt without any kill! or maybe OP is a real sportsman who believes thats its the hunt that matters, not the kill i hear you. lot of crooks online these days trying to rip off honest and unsuspecting people. some THINK they know a lot while they dont know jack but yet express expert opinion. dont believe anyone and just keep on reading. do your own research and then make an intelligent decision. usually people on the forum with more reputation, and who have been around for a while know what they are talking about. then again, there could be exception as well

But I think must rank theory will be applied only for those terms which are brand names and trademarks associated with brands which lets brands to rank on first position. I think Viagra is not a brand so It can be outranked (I am not drunk! ). It will takes years of link building and SEO but I think it is beatable, what say?
Well if you search the term "windows" "vista" or "xp" you will get the first result microsoft.com though windows, vista are common words and xp has no meanings, but since they are brand products of Microsoft so, Google put them to #1, same goes with "viagra" its a brand product of Pfizer it will be always #1 no matter how hard you try to get the keyword "viagra" to #1 by doing SEO for your site. I really dont understand what you are trying to tell. If you mean to say keyword or search term "google" as #1 for other sites, then I must say you are living in dreams. Top results are reserved for brands and google evaluate that brands and you cannot put any ordinary brand to top slot no matter what you do with SEO. Take this for example. keyword or search term "google" Now if you search into different data centers of google you will get different #1 result for google. Search: google in google.com <> #1 google.com google in google.co.uk <> #1 google.co.uk google in google.ca <> #1 google.ca likewise for every datacenter for different countries. Now the keyword or search term is same for all but results vary, that's because of the local brand for that country and google.com comes below that result, even google.com is the parent site.
