    Yes, ditto

But the bigger question, is does your business really need a forum.
The toughest part about running a forum is keeping it active.
The forum can actually do more harm than good.

If you have a tough time getting users to join and post regularly and your forum looks like a Ghost Town, what do you think that's going to say about your business?

look at the big forums. forums.digitalpoint.com, forums.seochat.com, forums.searchenginewatch.com

The Google Bot will index more pages per subdomain per visit than it will a folder. So if you're looking for SEO, definitely go subdomain.

I would readily agree....all the popular forums are incidentally on sub-domains...But then...as someone already suggested, do you really need a forum?....since you will have to devote a lot of time and effort to make it moving....

No difference but difficult to read visitors statistics because sub-domains
    would have different reports.

I have one site with 100 sub-domains and need to read 100 reports.

Another with 4,500 webpages are in folders. Reading its visitors statistics is a breeze
since it is in a report (Hosgator).
