I am starting up a video site and I have a couple questions. How would I target specific keywords for the website? Further explanation of this is say I wanted good rankings for the keywords "funny videos" and I had a pr4. How could I get my homepage in the top rankings targeted for this keyword. Would it be strictly in the meta data? If I placed a few main meta keywords for the homepage would this be better then having about 20 different keywords? Basically any information is good information.
Meta data is one of the main point. Optimize your meta data well also use some content in your website if possible the main Off page factor is quality back links, so try to build quality links only. Use your main keywords that you are targeting for your website in anchor text.
jp - tom has given you some very good advice. Also keep in mind that your are in one of the TOP competition areas online! HUGE HUGE competition is out there for anything even like funny videos, funny jokes, funny pictures, funny stories etc. Make your meta as you would if you were giving someone directions - not too little and not stuffed
Thanks for the information guys Also the website isn't quite for funny videos that was just an example. So the anchor text plays the major factor I take it.
