Ok let me play out my scenario for you... I have a website which receives around 6,000 visitors daily. Of those 6,000 about 40% (2400-2700) go to the website of the clickbank product I am promoting. Note: (I don't do PPC at all) So I receive 2400-2700 hops a day for this particular product. I am not using a landing page whatsoever, I am directing my visitors directly to the clickbank product, which I will admit is a little bit of trickery. However, this is my dilemma with a landing page. Let’s say for example that I change all my links that are currently going directly to the clickbank product to go to a landing page on my website and the conversion doubles. Great, but will my sales per day go up? Probably not because my hops are significantly less because there was an extra step (the landing page) in getting to the call of action (buying the product). I would love to hear everyone’s opinions on this. Am I way off base here? If you would like to see my website let me know and I will post it in the forum.
If I understand correctly what you're asking then there is no way of knowing which one will make you more sales. You just need to test it and see if the new setup makes you more money. Ideally you should run a split test to see exactly what's the difference between the direct linking and sending them to your own LP.
Split test. Send half straight to the publisher and half to the landing page. Use clickbanks tracking IDs to test sales and conversion rates.
agree with the split test comments ... now, sure, you might get less hops to the publisher page, but the advantage could be that the people that go via the landing page are more likely to buy ... i.e. they've read your trusted words on the this product, so they are more predisposed to buying it ... it's a theory ... will be interesting to see what your split testing results show
I will go ahead a split test and share my results with you guys. Not sure If I will run website optimizer or just switch over all the links and let it run for a month. Currently my conversion is pretty horrible, 1 sale out of around 1000 hops. Having said that even If I had the best landing page ever created for the product I still don't see it getting better then 1 sale for 400 hops. I have promoted the same product for awhile with multiple different affiliates and it just doesn't seem to get better, no matter what, and I have excepted that.
Sales have nothing to with the amount of hops you send, its not a game of quantity but of quality hops. From all those hops how many of them really were interested in the product and really wanted to click on the link? you said that you use some kind of trick, but those tricked will just not even look at the page if they were not interested in the first place. On the other hand if you send the interested people to a landing opage, and presell the product to them, they are very more likely to buy. Yes, the number of hops you will send to the product page will be much less, but even if you send thousands of hops if they are not interested they would not buy anyways. It always depend on the niche of your website, if you are not landing a handful of sales right now it migh be a better option to go for adsence - considering the amount of visitors, you will most likely make at least xxx/day with it
I think just telling you my website will work better then me trying to explain tattoos-and-art.com all the posts have an image of designs that links to the aff. product. How much of a trick is it? I don't really know...will it work if I send them to a landing page from all those links? My conversion will be better but I don't see my revenue jumping at all.
