Should you Optimize different pages on your site for different keywords or the same?

I am using SEO software and have optimized my homepage for a particular keyword. Should I optimize the other pages (about us, how it works, video's) etc. for the same keyword or for different related keywords?

I.e. Homepage - womens shoes
How it works - discount footwear
About us - cheap shoes

Or optimize everypage for womens shoes?

 

Each page should have it's own focus and you should optimize for that focus. However, your entire site should have a larger focus. So for example, if your site is about "Women's Shoes" then you should also have pages about "Discount Women's Shoes", "Cheap Women's Shoes", "Pumps", "Flats", "High Heels", or what ever the logical categories are for your niche. Google likes websites that stick to the same theme so let that be your guide.

 

bestbrands4less, you got a great advice from freelistfool. That's the way you should approach keyword choice. I would just add that you should do keyword research before you decide on which keyword(s) to use for every page, and then re-write or adjust your content to match those keywords.
The next step is internal optimisation.
