When someone types in my url to get to it, that's a direct traffic visit, correct? I have 68 in the past month or so, but i'm pretty sure the vast majority of these visits are me. In Google Analytics it says that near 90% of these visitors are new visitors, but that's probably just re-registering me as a repeat visitor after i'm clearing my cookies each time, correct? Because i visit the site somewhat reguarly just to view it.
You can't see IP addresses from analytics, but you can see what city or what ISP the user came from. Use the "dimension" drop down box and select either "city" or "network location". You should be able get a pretty good estimate of how many were you by your city and ISP.
analytics is pretty good about determining unique visitors i've found compared to the other statistics software. If you have an easy domain name its quite possible
as a repeat visitor after i'm clearing my cookies each time, correct? Because i visit the site somewhat reguarly just to view it. Do this for me , this will help you 1. Create a new google anlaytics profile for the same domain 2. add a filter to this profile which excludes traffic from your IP Check data differences between this and you will realize how many were your visits vs. outside. As for how analytics track the uniqueness(repeat) visits, they rely on three factors 1. IP 2. User Agent 3. Cookies. if all three matches then you are counted as repeat visit. Hope this helps !!!
