Clicks not adding up

I have many sites and many channels. Lately I've been getting some clicks that are not showing up on any of the channels

When I look at the top summary line, it says I have "3" clicks and my earnings. When I look at my "top Channels" there are only "2" clicks adding up to a lower earning.

Yes, I know about money you get from impressions (with out clicks), that is not the issue.

it would appear that I have some code out there that I have not added to a channel, so it doesn't show in my top channels.

checking hundreds of pages would be a bit cumbersome. is there a different way to find out what page the click came from so I can add it to a channel?

Clicks could be coming from pages in the Google Cache. Also, your top channels may not encompass all the pages that you have, thus there are clicks in total that are not found in channels.

Also, someone may be using your pages, like if they "save page as" and view it later. The clicks on those WILL show up, but they will not be included in your channels, even if the page that was saved had a channel assigned to it.

To be safe, you may wish to put only YOUR sites in the "allowed sites" part of your adsense control panel. What this will do is only count earnings when they are made on your sites. While this may drop your earnings very slightly, it WILL protect you from people using your code on their sites (which may be in violation of TOS etc)

As for finding the page a click was made, it depends. If you have access to a command like grep and some scripting knowledge, you might be able to search for the lack of a Channel code in your pages.

    Hope this helps somewhat

It's possible someone tried to copy your site and didn't change the adsense code. (At least i think it is.)

Yah, it is at least a reasonable explanation of how it could happen.

I've heard of people using other peoples code on their site. Why would they want to do that??

You could track by the URL channels instead? It would be quicker than checking all of your ad units
